DBS Bank has appointed Dr Ben Caldecott as a non-director member of its board sustainability committee (BSC).
Caldecott is founding director of the Oxford Sustainable Finance Team at the University of Oxford’s Smith Faculty of Enterprise and the Setting, and is an associate professor of sustainable finance.
He will join a sustainability committee that involves chief executive Piyush Gupta and board associates Chng Kai Fong, Judy Lee and Tham Sai Choy.
Caldecott brings knowledge in senior advisory roles with the British isles Local weather Transform Committee and the Transition Strategy Taskforce, which was recognized by HM Treasury previously this yr. He was formerly the COP26 approach advisor for finance for the United kingdom Cupboard Office.
He will assistance the bank function in direction of sustainability targets that include accomplishing internet-zero emissions by 2050, and phasing out coal lending by 2039.
Caldecott has also joined the advisory board of Local weather Impact X, a carbon credits market co-released by DBS previously this yr.
