New Jersey business owner chased dream during COVID-19


HOBOKEN (PIX11) — Like millions of employees throughout the country, Miguel Goncalves grew worn out of his 9-to-5 company gig. So, at the height of the pandemic, he threw in the towel and walked away to go after a desire.

“There was no candle store in town,” he pointed out. “I necessarily mean, there are some basic suppliers that do promote a candle or two, but there was no particular scent store and I imagined this was a fantastic prospect.”

He opened Wicked Scents in April of 2021 along 2nd Avenue. It speedily became a mainstay on the block boasting an inventory that not only bundled countrywide models, but also neighborhood candle makers.

“I’m hoping not only to guidance the tiny male and lady, but also guidance nearby,” he told PIX11 News.

With his one year anniversary in Hoboken just months away, Goncalves has a whole lot to rejoice. He’s previously increasing with yet another shop in Brooklyn, and designs to open up far more.
